Work & Volunteer

There are lots of ways to gain new skills and experience at Lakeside Arts.

Each year there are a number of opportunities for students to volunteer on a one-off basis at Lakeside to help us deliver special events and festivals. For example, our as Local History and Archaeology Day, Wheee! Festival or Chinese New Year.

In addition, we also run the Nottingham Advantage Award module ‘Creative Careers’. This year-long module offers students the chance to complete 30 hours of voluntary work across our programme, attend sessions with members of our team and learn more about working in the creative sector.

Apply for this Module

Since 2013, Lakeside has worked in partnership with Nottingham New Theatre (TNNT), the University of Nottingham’s student run theatre and the only student run theatre in England, to deliver a professional development project which they enagage with full-time over three weeks of their Easter vacation.

This project provides the opportunity for student to work with a professional theatre director and learn what it’s like to be part of a professional theatre company. The students have support from and work alongside a fully professional creative team, with lighting and sound designers; in addition they have a set designed by two final year Theatre Design students from Nottingham Trent University, who are mentored by a professional theatre designer and their course Leader at NTU.

In addition to performing, there are production opportunities to be:

  • Assistant to Director
  • Assistant to Producer
  • Marketing Assistant
  • Technical Assistant
  • Design Assistant

To find out more, check our recruitment page between October and December each year.
